Thoughts on the Past Year
By What do I think about what’s happened over the past year?
Well, that’s easy. I feel proud, damn it, I do!
I’ve made some fantastic new friends, some have come & gone & some have stayed. Some have even joined me here on the blog! I feel grateful for all of the help I’ve had when I’ve been stuck- like yesterday, Gary Swindley put some pieces together for me with some dictations & he worked damn hard! For more than half of the lifetime of the blog I’ve been pretty ill, obviously now I know why…but I’m ready to carry on with this & the publishing. Nothing will stop me now I’ve reached a place where I feel confident & determined to do what I’ve always wanted to do! I’ve spent years building up skills to just begin on this long road, & yes, there have been some massive stumbling blocks, but that won’t stop me. I have my co-bloggers & you, my readers, I’ve tried to seek out the perfect people to be a part of The HHHB & they’ve amazed me. They make me smile when I read their latest posts…that’s the point of the blog. To combine everything a reader & writer will want to find, all in one place. I depend on your feedback, whether through comments, or the contact page, I actively encourage you to let me know what you want…no one should ever stop learning!
There’s been the interviews & long chats with Shaun Hamilton at the beginning of The HHHB, he was there from the very start. What he really wanted to do was write…& that’s what he did in the end. Even though it took his time available to write for us here, I’m so happy that I have books of short stories such as Alt-Dead with his work in them! He’s grown, developed & honed his craft…that’s a fantastic thing. Though I wish he’d hurry up & win the lottery so he can give up the day job & have enough time to write for himself & the blog too!
Then along came that cheeky scamp Steven Chapman! I’d been reading his site for a while & we were friends on Facebook, so in the end I asked him if he’d consider writing for the blog…& posing half-naked with only balloons, lets not forget the body bags pic…& the juggling whilst balancing on a chair in his local park! Bloody barmy! But the blog would be less bright, funny & off-the-cuff without him.
Then The Undead Review crawled out of his grave & sat in a shed watching movies for us. Now that’s dedication! Always good for digging up those dead & buried forgotten corny gems & delivering incandescent wit!
Adrian Chamberlin, what can I say about him? Erm…hang on, I’ll think of something…*scratches head*.
My friend from Hobbitland, just look at the stick friend he has?! Maybe he’s just barmy like the rest of us?! ;D
A bloody good writer who is always ahead of the game when it comes to the important questions being asked within the horror community, & ready to speak up when something is wrong. Ade always answers the questions we’re all wanting to ask. He does this ‘no holds barred’, but like a gentleman.
Then along came Ted Grau, who’s ready to post another piece soon. Full of the wisdom of The Elders, he’s here just for you.
Gary Swindley, who joined us as a reviewer. Being my other half, he noticed the to-be-reviewed list here at the home of horror! Then he asked to join as a reader. His first review was written whilst muttering “What am I doing?!”, but he got there! Now he gets requests for reviews…now how do I stop him getting a big head? *Ponders*
Just kidding, I’ve enjoyed seeing him gain confidence & proud of his commitment to the blog, he’s been a life saver at times when I’ve not been able to sit at the computer.
I’m proud & thankful to all of my co-bloggers & to you all, I can’t do it without you!
Thank you all for being our Constant Readers.
